RD Castings - Design and Tool Making

RD Castings has an extensive in-house tool room providing the design and manufacture of CNC jigs and fixtures, and precision press tools and where required customer tooling modification.  These facilities also provide for a high standard of maintenance to all customers' tooling, this is essential and ensures the very best tooling life expectancy. Customers' tooling is inspected and prepared prior to use ensuring defect free production, and is serviced and maintained after all production runs.

RD Castings has recently invested into its in-house tool room with benefit of new equipment, with the addition of a KR-L300 CNC lathe with full conversational programming, and an SM-1500 3 axis CNC mill also including full conversational control. These investments have ensured that we have the latest technology, allowing our tool room to be very cost effective.

For major new tool making projects we work in close partnership with a select few UK proven toolmakers.  We also offer offshore tool making where highly competitive prices can be achieved. All tool design and manufacture of tooling supplied via UK toolmakers or from our Chinese tool making partners, are managed by RD Castings and we accept the full responsibility for the success of the component, ensuring the samples are provided on time and correct - every time!

All new tooling is fully sampled and submitted with full dimensional reports, produced in-house using our 3D Co-ordinate Measuring Machine.

By allowing RD Castings involvement at an early stage of product conception, we can often make suggestions which can lead to significant savings in tooling, and the component costing.  RD Castings are also happy to be involved in one off sample productions and prototype work where required, to confirm fit and function prior to full scale production.

RD Castings can also accept data in many formats including IGES/Auto Cad/DFX/Para Solid and Step to name but a few. We also have the facility for full cad cam and 3D modelling.
